Diciamo che un po’ ce lo aspettavamo. Erano in testa quando li abbiamo individuati l’ultima volta sul tracciato e il nostro tifo certamente ha fatto la sua parte. Leonardo Servi e Franco “Ciccio” Manzoli hanno vinto la 73° Loropiana Giraglia in ORC C e sono terzi overall in una classe con 52 avversari, uno più forte e agguerrito dell’altro. Da sottolineare anche che su tutti i partecipanti sono stati gli unici a correre in double handed.
“La regata mi ha dato una soddisfazione immensa. Come allenamento abbiamo fatto la Riva per Due, che è stata una bella palestra: con meno barche, sì, ma con condizioni di venti leggeri. Stesse condizioni meteo anche per la 151 Miglia. E in questa Giraglia abbiamo trovato condizioni di arie leggere, che premiano le barche più leggere e con equipaggio ridotto. Come sempre un po’ di fortuna aiuta. Siamo migliorati molto anche a livello di manovre, siamo sempre più veloci e reattivi. Abbiamo fatto le scelte giuste seguendo la filosofia di Ciccio: meno strada fai e meglio è”, commenta da bordo Leonardo.
“Non ci siamo risparmiati in niente”, racconta Ciccio Manzoli: “non abbiamo mai esitato a fare il cambio di vele al momento giusto, lo abbiamo fatto e basta, non pensando mai di risparmiare una manovra”.
Ancora Servi: “Scricca è andata benissimo, un po’ di maquillage, un aggiornamento sull’elettronica ed è una barca (varata nel 2010, ndr) che si comporta ancora molto bene con ventone e con arie leggere e ci dà sempre grandi soddisfazioni”.
Per Manzoli: “è una barca molto azzeccata, costruita molto bene che non ci ha mai dato problemi. Ha grande stabilità di forma, con una chiglia che ci dà molto raddrizzamento, il che la rende ideale anche per le regate in doppio. Non siamo mai troppo sbandati senza avere otto persone in falchetta”.
I due sono felici per essere saliti ancora una volta sul podio più prestigioso del Mediterraneo e di aver vissuto una bella regata in acqua. We’ve improved a lot also at the level of maneuvers; we’re always faster and more reactive. We made the right choices following Ciccio’s philosophy: less distance you go, the better it is,” Leonardo comments from aboard.
“We didn’t spare ourselves in anything,” Ciccio Manzoli recounts: “we never hesitated to change sails at the right moment, we did it and that was it, never thinking of saving a maneuver.”
Still Servi: “Scricca went brilliantly, a bit of maquillage, an update on the electronics, and it’s a boat (launched in 2010, ndr) that still performs very well both with ventone and with light airs, and it always gives us great satisfaction.”
For Manzoli: “it’s a very azzeccata boat, built very well, that never gave us problems. It has great form stability, with a keel that gives us a lot of raddrizzamento, which makes it ideal also for double-handed regattas. We’re never too sbandati even without having eight people in falchetta.”
The two are happy to have climbed once again onto the most prestigious podium in the Mediterranean and to have experienced a beautiful regatta on the water.
